Contract Project Engineer, Automotive Electrification & Battery Testing, Commutable from Coventry, Hinckley, Leicester, Birmingham, Rugby

Work at the forefront of automotive EV battery testing!

18-month contract role, £27.00 per hour hourly rate guide, October 2025 start date available.

Battery testing experience is advantageous but full training can be provided (structured 8 week training plan in place).

Role would suit somebody with experience of working within a Project Engineer, Test Engineer, Development Engineer, Project Manager or similar engineering role.

We are looking for a highly motivated Project Engineer / Test Engineer to sit at the cutting edge of battery safety and abuse testing. You will act as the key link between the customer and the engineering test team, making sure every project runs safely, smoothly, and to the highest standard.

Your background as a Project Engineer / Test Engineer :

Strong technical background in engineering or testing (battery or automotive experience desirable).

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Clear communicator who can confidently liaise with both customers and technical teams.

Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality, safety, and compliance.

You will be degree qualified in an automotive engineering or similar mechanical engineering or electrical engineering discipline.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

Project Engineer / Test Engineer Responsibilities :

Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, offering guidance and technical advice on all aspects of battery abuse testing (training can be provided on battery testing).

Approve all test setups before execution, ensuring compliance with agreed requirements.

Oversee test execution, ensuring data is captured accurately, archived securely, and reviewed for quality and integrity.

Manage workload planning, ensuring equipment, tools, and resources are available when needed.

Own and maintain all supporting documentation, including Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.

This Project Engineer / Test Engineer role is commutable from Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, Tamworth, Rugby, Hinckley, Warwick, Northampton, Leamington Spa and surrounding areas.
