Scope Of The Role
As part of a multi‑functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands‑on role, responsible for producing parts to fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Operate a Waldrich Coburg Large Surface Grinder (Siemens 840D control) ensuring consistent high quality production of critical components.
- Produce complex components to drawing specification ranging in size from 25 kg up to 12 000 kg.
- Work from and interpret engineering drawings to ensure parts are produced to drawing specification.
- Apply knowledge of material characteristics and machining methods to ensure optimal productivity.
- Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve production targets.
- Foster a ‘Right First Time’ mindset in a quality‑driven environment.
- Understand, and always work in line with Fives Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.
Technical Competencies Required
- Experience in operating a medium to large surface grinder is preferred; training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Setting of components, composite grinding wheels, jigs and fixtures.
- Proficient in the use of measuring equipment to maintain drawing specifications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Manufacture components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity.
- Time‑served apprenticeship certification.
