Eligibility to work
Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You\'ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK / Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.
Interview process
The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. It helps us understand what kind of person you are and whether you\'d be a great fit at McDonald\'s. The interview typically involves questions around values and attitudes and allows you to demonstrate how you work within a team. We look for people with the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.
Prospects at McDonald\'s
Our employees tend to stay with us. There are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. Many managers started as crew members or in the kitchens. We offer award-winning learning, nationally-recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, as well as a clear career path.
Role expectations
You\'ll be working in a fast-moving, high-energy environment and should have a genuine smile and the ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally, and you should work well as part of a team. Effective communication, attentive listening, and maintaining high energy while working efficiently are essential.
Company values
McDonald\'s core values : Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community and Family. We live by these values and are committed to a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace, providing quality jobs, and making opportunity open to all.

Interview slots
If you are unable to make any of the interview slots offered to you in the recruitment process, you can get back in touch with Olivia and she will help you rearrange to find a date suitable for you.
Sustainability
Does McDonald\'s have any sustainability plans or pledges in place? At McDonald\'s, we are working hard to take the necessary steps towards a more sustainable business and future. In 2021, we launched our first (and certainly not the last) net-zero restaurant.
Pay frequency
How often do I get paid? This can vary depending on whether you work in a franchised or company owned restaurant. Typically, hourly paid employees are paid every 2 or 4 weeks, and monthly for employees on a dedicated salary.
Shifts and attire
What type of shifts will I be doing and how many? Our restaurant hours range from location to location, but over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours a day. We schedule most shifts to suit you, but also take working time legislation and our business needs into account. Just one of the benefits of working at McDonald\'s is that you don\'t have to worry about what to wear to work; we will supply you with a uniform.
Promotion
Does McDonald\'s promote its employees? Definitely. We highly value talent and always aim to encourage employees to remain within our business. To put it into perspective, half of our Executive Team started in restaurants. There are no limits to how far or fast you can progress.
