About the Role

The Athletic is seeking a Live Reporter on a 6 month contract to work with some of the best sports writers in the world and a talented team of editors to produce exceptional live blogs across a variety of sports on a daily basis. The right candidate will have experience working on a national sports desk or similar, a brilliant quality of copy and an engaging, driven approach to live coverage.

This role is a 6 months contract to cover for an employee on leave.

Responsibilities

• Writing, editing and publishing content in live blogs.
• Experience with producing breaking news content in an accurate, timely manner.
• Curating the best content from social media.
• Working with reporters to produce news stories and copy in their voice for live experience.
• Collaborating with news editors to keep blogs up to date.
• Understanding SEO and best practices.
• Understanding of trends –both on search and social media.
