Location: Tamworth

Hours: Dayshift, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Pay: £16.00-£18.00 per hour DOE

The Role

Optima is recruiting a skilled CNC EDM Wire Programmer Operator to join a precision manufacturing client in Tamworth. The successful candidate will operate high-specification EDM wire equipment to manufacture gears, gear shafts, and precision components to exacting standards.

Key responsibilities include

• Programming and operating CNC EDM Wire machines
• Working from detailed engineering drawings, process sheets, and tooling instructions
• Producing precision components to tight tolerances
• Entering production and job data into the ERP system
• Operating multiple machines as required
• Working with a variety of materials
• Applying strong knowledge of EDM principles, tooling, and material characteristics
• Maintaining quality, accuracy, and safe working practices

About You

• Minimum of 3 years' trade training or equivalent experience, plus 2-4 years' relevant machining experience
• Extensive knowledge of CNC EDM Wire machining
• Strong understanding of EDM principles, tooling, materials, and machine shop practices
• Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
• Comfortable working in a multi-machine environment
• Good communication skills
• Self‑motivated with a driven and proactive attitude
