Electrical Design Manager - Solar / BESS

The Role

As Electrical Design / Engineering Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading the company's electrical design function. You will combine hands-on technical design expertise with leadership, overseeing a small but growing design team, managing third-party designers, and ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency across all projects.

You'll work closely with the senior leadership team, providing technical guidance, driving quality, and helping the business scale to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the internal electrical design team, mentoring and supporting their professional growth
• Carry out and review detailed electrical designs and calculations (AC / DC cable sizing, LV AC grading studies, cabinet / connection design)
• Produce and check SLDs, electrical drawings, and predesign layouts
• Support G99 and G100 applications, liaising with inverter manufacturers and ensuring compliance
• Design and commission communication / monitoring systems, including remote support
• Oversee Bills of Materials, costings, and Scopes of Work to align technical and commercial outcomes
