2 Personal Assistant’s required 4 hrs per week

About Myself

I am a 16-year-old boy who resides in the Merthyr area with my mother and two younger sisters. I am looking for 2 personal assistants to help me access the local community.

I have a life limiting neurodegenerative disease Ataxia-telangiectasia AT. This includes difficulty in walking and poor balance, I need support with transitions and am unable to walk without support and usually use my wheelchair.

I am able to communicate verbally however my speech can become slurred, I have access to a communicate device to support me when needed.
Due to my increased mobility I need support with transitions and am unable to walk without support and usually use my wheelchair. .
I attend greenfield specialist school and have a good group of friends. I enjoy watching my favourite football team Liverpool, playing on my X-box and love music particularly rap music and Ed Sheeran.
I have a good sense of humour and want to access social activities, I will need two PA’s to ensure my safety with transitions and transfers from my wheelchair etc.

Going bowling
Pokémon
Watching football – my favourite team is Liverpool
Playing on my Xbox
Shopping for things I like such as Pokémon cards.
Music –lots of different types of music including rap, rock and Ed Sheeran.

Tasks and Duties

To access the local community and surrounding areas.
Always ensure my safety.
Promote my independence.
Encourage a happy and positive atmosphere when out in the community.
Provide reassurance when I have become unsettled

Working Hours/Rate of pay
£14 PER HOUR
4 hours per week.
Can be worked flexible

Type of person required

Someone who is kind and patient and will respect my needs
Someone who has previous experience of working with children with additional needs and behavioural challenges.
Full UK Driving licence – Essential
Reliability is essential
Someone who is understanding and trustworthy
Good clear communication skills
Someone who will encourage independence
Desirable if they have epilepsy training.

Training
Training is accessible if required for the job role
Additional Information
Successful applicants will be subject to a three month trial period
A DBS check will be required, this will be at no cost to yourself
