Portuguese Teacher (Part-time, Face-to-Face)

Hours: This is a part-time position. We are looking for a teacher to deliver in-person courses in the evenings (18:30 – 20:30).

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Portuguese teachers to join our Foreign Languages team. This role focuses on teaching face-to-face adult group classes in the evenings. Lessons take place once a week from 18:30 to 20:30.

As part of IH London, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a supportive, international community of teachers, with access to resources, professional development, and a lively student community.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Portuguese lessons to adult learners.
• Design creative and effective learning materials.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Create an inclusive and motivating classroom environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high teaching standards.
• Complete attendance records and progress reports as needed.
• Right to work in the UK (must be UK-based).
• Proficiency in Portuguese (native or near-native level – C2).
• Initial teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CELTA certificate).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching adults in a formal setting.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Portuguese Language & Literature (Letras), or in Modern Languages.
• Experience teaching both group and individual lessons.
• Flexibility to teach additional evening courses.
