SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with additional needs in a school based in Luton. This role includes personal care responsibilities, so prior experience or a willingness to support children with physical and personal care needs is essential.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide individualised support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, physical disabilities, complex medical needs, and global developmental delays.

Responsibilities :

Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEND

Assist with personal care tasks including toileting, feeding, and mobility support

Support students with their learning, communication, and emotional regulation

Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies

Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Liaise effectively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals

Requirements :

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND

Comfortable with or experienced in providing personal care

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting learners

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2 / 3, Teaching Assistant qualification) – desirable but not essential
