VMA Group are supporting a confidential, global organisation operating in a highly complex, regulated environment to appoint a Director of Marketing & Communications for its international division.
This is a senior leadership role for a strategic yet hands-on marketing and communications leader who thrives in stakeholder-heavy environments, understands how to influence senior decision-makers, and knows how to translate technically complex capabilities into compelling, credible narratives.
Role Overview
As Director of Marketing & Communications, you will lead the development and execution of integrated international marketing and communications strategies that support growth objectives and deepen engagement with senior external stakeholders.
You will operate as both a strategic advisor to leadership and a delivery-focused partner to commercial teams.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute international marketing and communications strategies aligned to commercial priorities
- Develop targeted campaigns aimed at senior decision-makers and influencers across global markets
- Monitor competitive activity, market dynamics, and industry trends, providing insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships with international industry bodies, associations, and strategic partners
- Shape and oversee creative strategy to position the organisation’s capabilities clearly and credibly
- Partner closely with senior leaders and regional teams to support priority opportunities and long-term growth plans
Marketing & Communications Delivery
- Lead the strategy and delivery of major international events, conferences, and trade engagements
- Secure and support thought-leadership opportunities, including speaking engagements and executive positioning
- Take a hands-on role in supporting high-value commercial pursuits through tailored marketing strategies
- Review and approve external and internal communications to ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy
- Collaborate with central communications, brand, PR, and corporate marketing teams to ensure alignment
- Define and track KPIs, demonstrating impact and continuously optimising performance
- Act as a senior representative of the organisation at external forums and events
- Support internal communications initiatives for the international division as required
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in senior marketing and communications roles
- Proven ability to translate complex, technical or specialist propositions into clear, compelling messaging
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable operating at executive and board level
- Willingness to travel internationally

- Experience operating in regulated, high-trust, or government-adjacent environments
- Strong understanding of long-cycle commercial or business development processes
- Track record of delivering measurable marketing impact tied to commercial outcomes
