An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated pharmacist to take on a senior role as Lead Pharmacist - Gastroenterology within our dynamic Pharmacy team.

Pharmacy is recognised as a key resource within our Gastroenterology department, and we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to lead services in this area working alongside other Specialist Lead Pharmacists. Our department is dedicated to advancing pharmacy practice and embedding effective medicines management systems into patient care. We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong organisational and communication skills, eager to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services for Gastroenterology patients. As part of the MDT, you will deliver a comprehensive, high-quality clinical service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage day-to-day delivery of clinical pharmacy services to the Gastroenterology department.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence-based guidelines.
• Develop, audit and monitor Medicines Management processes within the service.
• Provide training and supervision to departmental staff.
• Contribute to the development of clinical pharmacy services for Gastroenterology patients.

Qualifications & Experience

• Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent).
• Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.
• Prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards one; commitment to continuing professional development.
• Previous experience of working within a clinical environment and well-developed communication and leadership skills.

• The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) with a friendly environment and established senior support; there is a favourable on-call commitment for pharmacists in the department.
