Job description

Director - In-house Banking and Financial Services team at Taylor Root

A leading Insurance organisation is looking to hire a Head of Commercial to join the team.

This role will provide legal support and advice to functions such as IT, Finance, HR, Operations and Facilities, with a particular focus on the drafting, review and negotiation of supplier contracts.

Core Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Provide legal support and advice to various functions across the business.
  • Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of supplier contracts
  • Work cross-functionally with teams across the business to provide comprehensive legal support across the contract lifecycle.
  • Implement and maintain robust contract review and other relevant processes to identify and mitigate commercial, legal, regulatory, and other risks.
  • Overall responsibility for leases and other property-related legal matters, intellectual property and data privacy matters.
  • Line management responsibility for two team members.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience :

  • Solicitor qualified in England & Wales (or equivalent); 8+ years PQE.
  • Excellent technical legal skills and demonstrable experience of having applied them in a private practice and / or in-house legal environment (preferably within insurance or wider financial services).
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with sound judgment and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to effectively manage workload, to plan and prioritise accordingly, and to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and accountability.
  • Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
