Head of Operations, Pleasance Theatre – role at Guardian Jobs. The Head of Operations is the driving force behind the successful delivery of Pleasance’s multi-site operation at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as the year-round home in London.

In Edinburgh, responsible for overseeing 300 staff, managing communications with 260+ performing companies and ensuring the festival operation provides a first-class experience to over 500,000 attendees. In London, ensure the theatre operates to a high standard at all times, managing the Technical and Guest Services departments (Box Office, Front of House and Bar), and acting as a conduit between all departments including finance, programming and marketing.

The Head of Operations will bring acute attention to detail, strong financial planning and budget management skills, and a process-driven approach to work. They oversee festival and operational budgets across Edinburgh and London, produce and monitor financial projections, and work cross-departmentally to deliver the organisation’s aspirations cost-effectively and sustainably.

Responsibilities

• Edinburgh : oversee 300 staff, manage communications with 260+ performing companies, and ensure the festival operation delivers a first-class experience to over 500,000 attendees.
• London : ensure the theatre operates to a high standard; directly manage Technical and Guest Services departments (Box Office, Front of House, Bar); act as a conduit between departments and provide clear communication across the organisation.
• Monitor budgets and financial projections; ensure resources are allocated effectively across the festival and year-round operation.
• Provide leadership and support to staff; foster relationships with stakeholders and volunteers, including programmes such as the Pleasance Festival Volunteer Programme.
