As a Lead Service Designer, youll be instrumental in cultivating a culture of learning, agility, and operational excellence. Working across teams and leadership groups, youll :

Contribute to the CI strategy.

Provide support building quality and customer centricity into its change projects.

Responsibilities :

Service Design is still in its formative stages - which means this isnt just a leadership role, its a foundational one. Were looking for a Lead Service Designer who can do more than deliver great design work. We need someone who can build capability, define best practice, and embed service design thinking across diverse teams and projects.

This is a chance to shape services that have real impact. As Lead Service Designer, youll champion user needs, quality, and operational excellence in the design of future services, helping the organisation put customers at the heart of every change initiative.

Essential experience, knowledge and skills include :

Service Design / Lean / Lean Six Sigma / expertise with appropriate certification

Proven experience leading complex, user-centred design projects in government or the public sector, applying iterative design principles and adapting based on user research and feedback. Delivering measurable improvements to the customer experience.

Can demonstrate an ability to train others in Service Design and provide mentorship, fostering a collaborative lean design culture across teams and the organisation, acting as a champion for user-centric design and the role effective service design plays in creating services that meet user needs.

Skilled in mapping complex services, producing user / customer journeys, personas, and service blueprints to generate actionable insights

Experienced at rapid prototyping to test, iterate and validate design solutions

Strong analytical skills in both qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and interpret user behaviour

Experience of working within an Agile team, understanding synergies and dependencies across key allied roles comprising service designers, product and service owners, business analysts, continuous improvement coaches and other researchers.

Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) Standards including leading Service Design and having a strong understanding of whats required at each stage during Discovery, Alpha and Beta phases including how Service Design evolves through the journey.

It would also be beneficial, but not necessary, to have some of the following :

Understanding of major organisational restructuring, including Communications, Stakeholder Management, and Change Management.

Knowledge of tools for diagnosing, designing, and implementing change interventions.

Experience with RPA, AI, and automation software / projects.

Experience supporting process migration projects.

Background in working within a regulatory environment within the aviation industry
