The job itself
The role is for 2 workers to be employed to work together to work 4 hours per week each to support the young man. This is for 22 weeks per weeks.
One of the roles is then extended for a further 22 weeks per year.
Therefore - one role is for 44 weeks per year employment and one role for 22 weeks per year. Both roles are for 4 hours per week.
About the recipient
The individual is male, 18 years old and resides in Cottingham. They require a dedicated and suitable person to support them due to having Autism.
They like / enjoy Walking, trampoline, bowling and other activities.
They don’t like going in busy public areas.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Assisting the individual with keeping them safe and happy, they should know the needs and ways to deal with individual's needs and disabilities.
- Preferred as one of two workers be male as they will be assisting person in public toilets when going out.
- Assisting with personal care.
- Assisting the individual with accessing activities and spending time out in the community.
- Attending / transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
- Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
Hours
4 hours.

The suitable candidate must :
Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.Be patient, caring and understanding.Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.Be a team player and able to work effectively alongside another carer.Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.DBS / Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
