IDAM Software Engineer (Java, ForgeRock)

Position Description :

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.

Your future duties and responsibilities :

In this role, you will develop and enhance complex back-end systems that support major client services, taking ownership of the full engineering lifecycle. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to translate evolving needs into secure, scalable and high-quality software. You will have the opportunity to shape technical decisions, support continuous improvement and collaborate in an environment that encourages experimentation and shared problem-solving.

You’ll contribute to cloud-based architecture, guide integration work and play a key role in maintaining service reliability. Whether leading technical discussions, solving intricate engineering challenges or mentoring others, you’ll be supported by a wider CGI community focused on delivering excellence.

Key responsibilities include :

• Build & Enhance : Design, develop and evolve robust server-side applications using modern Java frameworks.
• Lead & Influence : Contribute to architectural decisions and technical design discussions.
• Collaborate & Support : Work closely with cross-functional teams, providing guidance on best practice and integration approaches.
• Deliver & Improve : Participate in Agile ceremonies and drive quality through CI / CD and automated pipelines.
• Integrate & Optimise : Manage large-scale component integration within complex web ecosystems.
• Stabilise & Resolve : Support incident and change management to ensure system reliability.
• Innovate & Shape : Contribute to continuous improvement and future technical direction.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role :

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring strong back-end engineering experience, a solid understanding of cloud-based architecture and confidence working with modern development practices. You should be comfortable owning technical challenges, collaborating across distributed teams and delivering secure, scalable solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Essential qualifications include :

Strong Java development experience with frameworks such as SpringBoot and Hibernate.

Proven experience with IDAM and building applications integrating with platforms such as ForgeRock, One Identity, Okta, Azure AD or Auth0.

Hands-on experience with Jenkins, CI / CD, Git and modern DevOps practices.

Knowledge of reverse engineering and working independently on Jira-managed workloads.

Experience with Azure cloud architecture and Terraform (IaC) is highly desirable.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Experience with incident management, monitoring and observability tools.

Nice to have :

Ansible, Front-end development experience, advanced CI / CD, broader Azure experience.
