Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate and develop two separate maintenance teams & one facilities management team across different sites, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement
- Align team goals with overall business objectives, ensuring consistent performance and standards across both locations
- Implement best practices in team communication, cross-site collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Lead existing internal performance management process to assist in the development of all maintenance and facilities team members
- Hire and develop long-term succession candidate(s) to enable new opportunities across an expanding Group of businesses
2. World–Class Maintenance Standards
Develop and implement world–class maintenance strategies and KPIs aligned with global manufacturing best practicesBenchmark maintenance performance against industry leaders and drive initiatives to close any gapsEstablish a culture of proactive maintenance, leveraging predictive technologies and data–driven decision–making3. Multi–Site Optimisation
Harmonise maintenance processes, schedules, and resource allocation across both sites to maximise efficiency and cost–effectivenessImplement standardised procedures and best practices, ensuring consistency while adapting to site–specific needsUse digital twinning techniques to examine and compare the merits of different manufacturing layouts and combinationsCoordinate cross–site support and resource sharing to optimise overall maintenance effectiveness4. Strategic Planning & Execution
Develop long–term maintenance strategies that align with business growth plans and industry trendsLead the implementation of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems(CMMS) across both sites, ensuring seamless integration and utilisationIdentify and execute opportunities for automation, digitalisation and Industry 4.0 technologies in maintenance operations5. Cost Management & Capital Expenditure
Analyse GBP650,000 of annual maintenance spend across both sites, identifying opportunities for efficiency gains and quarterly cost reduction plansDevelop and present compelling business cases for capital investments, focusing on ROI and long–term operational benefitsOptimise spare parts inventory management and procurement strategies across sites6. Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices
Apply lean principles and DMAIC methodologies to streamline maintenance processes and eliminate wasteLead root cause analysis initiatives to address recurring issues and drive sustainable improvementsFoster a culture of innovation, encouraging team members to propose and implement improvement ideas7. Compliance & Safety Leadership
Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, including PUWER and HSE guidelines, across both sitesLead by example in promoting a safety–first culture, conducting regular audits and safety walksStay abreast of evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements, implementing changes proactivelyQualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) is preferred but experience can count for just as much10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing maintenance with at least 5 years in a leadership roleProven track record of implementing world–class maintenance practices in multi–site environmentsStrong background in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and DMAIC processesExpert knowledge of CMMS and Industry 4.0 implementation and optimisationDemonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams across multiple locationsExcellent analytical and problem–solving skills with a data–driven approach to decision–makingFinancial fluency with experience in budget management and capital expenditure planningFirst–rate communication and interpersonal skills with technical ability to make best use of the latest digital technologies to improve reporting to Group Finance and Leadership teams as well as visual communication across two sitesKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement across both sitesReduction in maintenance costs as a percentage of manufacturing costImprovement in predictive maintenance effectiveness (% of failures predicted and prevented)Employee engagement and development metrics within maintenance teamsSuccessful implementation and utilisation of CMMS across both sitesROI on maintenance–related capital expendituresTimely, insightful and effective monthly reporting of all KPIs and improvements in all seven areas of key responsibilityAdditional Requirements
