About the Role
As Maintenance Manager, you'll own the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of all mechanical, electrical and facility maintenance across our Tranent site. You’ll lead a small maintenance team, oversee preventive maintenance programmes, support installations and repairs, and help drive the reliability and performance of our equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends reactive troubleshooting with structured planning, giving you real influence over uptime, safety and efficiency across the yard.
Key Responsibilities
- Planned Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care
- Develop and deliver a robust PPM schedule to maximise plant availability
- Manage and improve the SharePoint plant list to build a site-wide PPM system
- Carry out electrical inspections and testing
- Install new plant and support commissioning activities
- Lead forklift, CNC, LEV and tool servicing, repairs and maintenance
Reactive Response & Troubleshooting
Respond quickly to breakdowns to reduce downtimeDiagnose faults using strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledgePrioritise and resolve defects reported through weekly inspectionsCompliance & Safety
Conduct weekly fire alarm point testing and monthly emergency lighting checksMaintain accurate maintenance certificates, service records and reportsCoordinate insurance and statutory inspectionsEnsure all work aligns with HSE requirements and company policiesParticipate in risk assessments and promote safe working practicesContractor & Supplier Management
Source, manage and negotiate with third-party suppliersOversee external contractors on specialist repairs and installationsEnsure competitive rates, quality work and safe deliveryLeadership & Team Development
Lead, coach and support the maintenance teamCollaborate effectively with Operations, Supervisors and QHSE teamsWorkshop Organisation
Maintain clean, safe and efficient engineering workshops using 5S principlesAbout You
You're a technically strong maintenance professional with experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. You enjoy taking ownership, improving processes, and keeping equipment running reliably.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and automated systemsExcellent fault-finding and diagnostic skillsExperience with PPM planning and maintenance systemsGood IT skills for diagnostics, record keeping and system updatesA proactive, safety-first mindsetAbility to lead and develop a small teamStrong organisational and planning capabilitiesWhy Join Us?
