Site Engineer – Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement Project
Location : Bramford Substation, Suffolk / Twinstead Tee, Essex (with travel across the worksites as required)
Contract Type : Full-time (duration aligned with project milestones; approx. 2025–2027)
About the Project
The Bramford to Twinstead Reinforcement is a major infrastructure scheme delivering upgrades to the electricity transmission network between Bramford Substation (Suffolk) and Twinstead Tee (Essex). The project involves construction of around 18 km of new 400 kV overhead line, 11 km of underground cable (including through protected / sensitive landscapes), and the development of associated infrastructure including a grid supply point substation at Butler’s Wood.
Role Summary
As a Site Engineer, you will support the delivery of the Bramford to Twinstead project through oversight of site operations, ensuring safety, quality, programme, and cost targets are met. You will work closely with Project Engineers, Construction Managers, subcontractors, and technical teams (design, civils, electrical) to facilitate smooth site execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise site works : overhead line installation, cable laying, foundations, civils, and other site infrastructure
- Ensure works comply with design drawings, specifications, health & safety regulations, CDM, environmental constraints
- Monitor and report on progress; assist with programme and scheduling updates
- Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors to resolve technical or logistical issues
- Quality assurance : ensuring workmanship meets standards, inspect installation, ensure compliance with specifications
- Assist with site surveys, setting out works, ensuring accurate alignment of overhead line, cable trenching etc.
- Manage site documentation : daily reports, risk assessments, method statements
- Occasionally attend design meetings / review buildability / provide feedback from site to design team
Requirements / Skills
Degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline)Experience of working on large infrastructure or power transmission / distribution projectsKnowledge of overhead line / underground cable / substation / HV environment is highly desirableStrong understanding of health, safety, environmental & regulatory requirementsAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, specificationsOrganised, good communicator, ability to deal with multi-disciplined teamsA full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sitesNice-to-Haves
