CFO

An established UK headquartered international law firm is seeking a highly commercial and strategically minded Chief Finance Officer to join its Executive Board. With over 1,000 people globally, the firm is recognised for its market‑leading expertise across a range of sectors. The firm has set an ambitious growth strategy, targeting an increase in revenue of more than 50% by 2030, supported by a strengthened leadership team and a renewed focus on commercial performance, operational efficiency and innovation.

The CFO opportunity will be a pivotal one for an experienced finance leader to shape the financial future of a collaborative, forward‑looking partnership. The role combines strategic planning, financial leadership, operational excellence and transformation across a multi‑office, multi‑jurisdiction environment.

The Role

The CFO will serve as a key advisor to the Executive Board, shaping long‑term financial strategy and ensuring the firm’s growth objectives are delivered responsibly and sustainably. As leader of the global finance function, the CFO will oversee commercial finance, FP&A, pricing, procurement, financial control, tax, and finance systems. The remit includes enhancing profitability, improving working capital, leading budgeting and forecasting cycles, and providing high‑quality commercial insights to practice groups and senior stakeholders.

A central element of the role is driving transformation. The CFO will modernise finance operations, champion digital and systems upgrades (including major platform programmes), streamline reporting and maximise efficiencies. The CFO will also act as the firm’s Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA), maintaining robust governance, controls and audit processes.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have substantial senior finance leadership experience, ideally as CFO or equivalent within the professional services sector in a partnership environment. They will bring proven expertise in financial strategy, commercial decision support, transformation and multi‑site team leadership. They will be an excellent communicator, able to translate complex financial matters for non‑financial audiences, and will possess strong stakeholder‑management skills suited to a partnership environment. A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.
