Job description

This is an interesting and varied role responsible for assisting with marketing and administration work for both Innovate UK Programmes https : / / www.ukri.org / councils / innovate-uk / and St John’s Innovation Centre https : / / stjohns.co.uk / based at the Centre. The role reports to the Deputy Innovate UK Programme Manager and the Marketing Manager (SJIC).

Alongside our Innovation & Growth team who provide business support to our tenants, virtual tenants and businesses across the East of England, in which this role sits, St John’s Innovation Centre is home to 80+ knowledge based & technical businesses, “houses” 300+ virtual tenants and has conference and catering facilities.

The Innovate UK Business Growth team consists of 12 members who deliver high quality business support to growing companies mainly in the East of England with the aim of directly contributing to driving business innovation and growth in the UK.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a small and flexible team with access to training and development. We are looking for a motivated, well organised candidate with experience in both marketing and administration who is flexible and willing to learn.

Main responsibilities of the role :

Marketing :

  • Events – support the organisation and delivery of all visits and events, liaising with conferencing and catering team
  • Take responsibility for monitoring event feedback, updating the team and appropriate databases
  • Prepare and design content or newsletters, general marketing material and social media
  • Update content management systems
  • Work with the team to complete templates for success stories / case studies / videos for review
  • Ensure stakeholders details are kept up to date
  • Administration :

  • Provide administrative support to ensure documentation is uploaded to relevant platforms within required timescales
  • Supporting all activities related to monitoring CRM systems and processes
  • Ensuring all documentation is correctly stored within the relevant systems in a timely manner
  • Input data into CRM and / or other platforms ensuring that the information is kept up to date and in line with Innovate UK requirements
  • Scheduling meetings, prepare notes from meetings, organise room bookings and travel arrangements as necessary
  • Assist the team with general administrative duties where required

  • Administration and marketing experience
  • Excellent communication skills via phone, email and face to face with people from a range of backgrounds and communities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a small team
  • Well organised with an ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Good level of computer skills including email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience of using databases / CRM
  • Good eye for design and some experience using design software, ideally Canva
  • Salary range to £28k (depending on experience) plus benefits
