This post is for a 14 hour term time position on a Wednesday, Thursday on a temporary basis to cover McCrone time for our Nursery Teacher.
Within Milngavie EYC we are currently looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Early Year Worker to join our team. This position will involve working directly with our nursery teacher covering all aspects of the curriculum with a focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Health and Wellbeing. You will be knowledgeable and experienced in delivering the Curriculum for Excellence, completing base line assessments, incorporating nurture principles, PATHS programs as well as managing support and challenge groups. You must be able to demonstrate this experience at interview.
You will be required to be adaptable and work as part of a team that supports the development of high quality early years services for children and families. You will provide children with a range of appropriate experiences and learning opportunities suitable for their age and stage of development. Therefore, you will have a sound working knowledge of local and national curriculum guidance and care standards. You will support the model of a safe, caring, stimulating and inclusive environment for parents and families.
You will be enthusiastic and articulate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
The successful candidate must possess a relevant childcare qualification as defined in the role profile. REHIS food hygiene certificate, Training in Makaton, First Aid Certification and Autism Awareness is desirable. You should have a minimum of one years’ experience in a childcare setting and experience of working with children who have a range of ASN.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG / Disclosure check is required
