SHEQ Manager (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality)

Location : Shirley, Solihull (Office-based with some nationwide travel)

Salary : £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (Negotiable, depending on experience)

Job Type : Full-Time, Permanent

Coats Recruitment is proud to be partnering with our client in the search for an experienced and driven SHEQ Manager. This is a key leadership role, responsible for embedding best practices in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality across a variety of projects nationwide.

You will work closely with Project Managers and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure full SHEQ compliance across all operations, helping shape a proactive and positive safety culture throughout the business. This role would particularly suit H&S Managers from automotive, construction, or food manufacturing backgrounds where processes are highly transferable.

The Role : What You'll Be Doing

Partner with project and site teams to prioritise and manage SHEQ requirements, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and ISO standards.

Lead robust risk assessments and carry out regular site audits to ensure standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are met and maintained.

Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances, implementing preventative measures to support continuous improvement.

Deliver SHEQ training programmes to internal teams and contractors, promoting a safety-first, quality-focused culture.

Ensure full compliance with relevant UK legislation (including COSHH, CDM, PUWER, LOLER, etc.) and contribute to achieving ISO 14001 accreditation.

Maintain and manage SHEQ documentation and reporting to ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

Assist in the completion of SHEQ elements for customer pre-qualification and tender submissions.

What Were Looking For Essential

NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification)

Proven SHEQ leadership experience in engineering, construction, automotive, or food manufacturing sectors

Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation and ISO standards

Strong communication and influencing skills

Full UK Driving Licence nationwide travel required

Desirable

Chartered IOSH Member (CMIOSH) or equivalent

Multi-site SHEQ management experience

Experience with CE Marking, UKCA, or BS EN 1090 compliance
