Mission description
Technical authority in the employees domain providing support to Engineering management for identification and driving priorities through technical roadmaps. Support of the product roadmaps in the employee's domain. Financial responsibilities : influence and awareness of product profitability and product competitiveness. No direct budget to manage but expected to influence budget identification via program and engineering managers. Organise and support peer reviews in the employee's domain. Process accountability : ensure traceability and compliance with Airworthiness and customer (and / or internal) requirements; delivery of projects according to Safran Product Introduction Process (requirements capture and traceability, design validation and verification, design reviews, etc.); definition and adherence to project milestones, both external and internal; support for operations (permits / concessions / Corrective actions, etc.). Interface with other functions (e.g. Operations, Business Development, Supply Chain, Programmes, Quality) in coordination with Technical Project Manager or Program Managers (if applicable).
Principal accountabilities
- Working under the direction of the Simulation and Means Team Lead. Carry out thermal, vibration, structural Finite Element Analysis using Ansys Workbench.
- Estimating task duration for single tasks or work packages. Coordination with Lead Engineers and Project / Programme Managers to stay abreast of customer needs and estimate forward demand.
- Support Simulation and Means Team Lead with reviewing the team's working practices and driving improvements to processes and procedures.
- Support the Simulation and Means Team Lead with long-range planning for the team to ensure the development of team members and processes follows company strategic plans. Coach team members as required. Provide training and guidance on Stress principles to grow the skill throughout the design community.
- Authoring, reviewing, and approving engineering documentation related to Simulation and Means activities. Review requirements from other Safran Business to help provide Simulation and Means support.
- Knowledge transfer : transfer the employees experience to less experienced engineers in the business.
- Support product improvement plan & implementation, then re-injected lessons learned into Research & Technology activities.
- Support Simulation and Means Team Lead to establish and coordinate knowledge sharing sessions of techniques, processes and technologies across the POWER Division of Safran.
- During bid phase, provide specialist functional know-how / lessons learned to estimate Engineering Non Recurring Cost for the relevant work packages.
- Promote Safran Simulation and Means capability in appropriate ways, e.g., representing the company at conference talks.
