Contract Type - 12 month fixed term contract starting August 2024
Location - The role could also be based at either our Bracknell or London campus based on your preference. Our London office is relocating from Victoria to Pimlico during the summer of 2024
Working Pattern - We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. Typically the team currently spend at least 1 day in the office per week.
Salary range - The salary range for this role is set at £52,600 - £79,200
About the role
Ethics & Sustainability (E&S) are deeply rooted in our DNA here at the John Lewis Partnership and are central to our pursuit of a happier world. We are excited to be recruiting for an Ethics & Sustainability Manager within the Social Impact & Health team. The successful candidate will play a key part in the acceleration and integration of our E&S plans across two of the UK’s most loved brands, Waitrose and John Lewis. You will be contributing to the delivery of our Social Impact & Health action plan, driving positive, measurable outcomes for our customers, Partners and our communities. With your great passion and understanding of our E&S programmes you will represent the Partnership externally, influencing NGOs and charities, bringing in their expert feedback to maximise the shared value of our initiatives.
Key responsibilities
Co-own the social impact and health action plan, methodology for impact assessment, and communication of results
Promote the delivery of a high-quality social impact Pan-Partnership programme at the local community level.
Work closely with a wide group of internal stakeholders including regional managers, store based community leads, Customer and Communications teams to ensure social impact engagement is effectively delivered and positively profiled.
Own our charity partnerships, building positive relationships and handling day-to-day queries. Drive activity to ensure delivery of our fundraising targets.
Manage delivery of programmes and partnerships to support the health and wellbeing of our vulnerable customers and communities, including Healthy Happy Home, Community Matters and our FareShare partnership. Seize opportunities to review and improve the impact of programmes.
Assume Committee member role in Building Happier Futures Committee of John Lewis Partnership Foundation
Ensure legal compliance for all our charitable and community activities and relationships.
Maintain quarterly reporting and impact measurement for all activities as well as annual submission into E&S report.
Ensure accurate and responsible budget management
People management of 2 direct reports.
Essential skills you’ll need
Degree-level qualification or experience in relevant subject area
Experience in social impact programme delivery across diverse stakeholder groups, with associated impact measurement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective stakeholder management and organisational skills
Proven interest in and appreciation for Ethics & Sustainability, particularly social impact and health
Desirable skills and experience
Experience in People management
