Torfaen Pupil Referral Unit, established in June 2009, provides high-quality education for children and young people who are facing social, emotional, and/or behavioural difficulties. This includes those who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education or are currently awaiting a managed move to a more suitable educational setting. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and inspiring Additional Learning Needs Coordinator (ALNCo) to join our leadership team and play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our students.

The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, creativity, and flexibility, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusive educational practices that cater to the diverse needs of our learners. As ALNCo, you will lead the development and implementation of tailored strategies designed to support students with additional learning needs, ensuring that they can effectively overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential in a nurturing environment.

Your role will involve close collaboration with teaching staff and the School Leadership Team to enhance curriculum delivery across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will oversee individual and group interventions, manage classroom dynamics, and facilitate outreach to mainstream schools, ensuring that our students receive the support they need to thrive both academically and socially. This role carries a teaching commitment of up to 0.5.

Candidates should possess a relevant qualification in special educational needs or a related field and demonstrate a genuine passion for inclusive education. Strong organisational skills, the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and a commitment to continuous professional development are essential attributes for this role. You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest educational research and best practices to effectively lead initiatives that promote inclusivity.

If you are motivated to make a significant difference in a progressive and innovative educational environment, we welcome your application. For an informal discussion about the role and the exciting opportunities it presents, please contact Head Teacher, Sarah Pugh. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring how you can contribute to our mission of providing exceptional support and education to our students.
