Job description

Priory Hospital Enfield is looking to recruit a Lead Occupational Therapist to join the team in one of our wards. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours per week.

The salary for this role is £52,000 depending on experience.

Located in Edmonton, North London, Priory Hospital Enfield offers acute and secure services for adult females. We have two medium secure wards, one low secure and one acute ward. We offer specialist mental health care to people who are unwell and are considered to be unable to look after themselves in the community. We offer specialist assessment, treatment and care to patients with severe mental illness, complex needs and people who require an environment with security and safety.

Priorys acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients

  • To ensure that own practice and service meets agreed local and national standards and clinical governance requirements, including COT Standards for Practice, Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
  • To work collaboratively with other Service Leads in Occupational Therapy, carrying portfolio service responsibilities that may bridge all specialties.
  • To take a lead role in the development, implementation and review of local policies and procedures required to deliver high quality, evidence based occupational therapy service.
  • To be a source of knowledge and expertise regarding Occupational Therapy Services, relatives and colleagues of all disciplines both within the site.
  • To manage and co-ordinate the delivery of occupational therapy services on a day to day basis.

About us

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will be HCPC registered, holding a BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy, with appropriate clinical post-graduate courses completed. A minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health is required. A recognised long course or MSc and professional membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) would be advantageous. The candidate should have broad post-qualification experience, particularly in the acute sector, with significant experience in clinical occupational therapy. Strong team leadership skills, experience in effecting change, and a working knowledge of current national and local healthcare issues are essential. Experience in supervising and teaching undergraduate and post-graduate staff is also required, along with inpatient experience, particularly in leading inpatient therapy teams. Additional inpatient experience is desirable.
