Overview
Senior Speech and Language Therapist role at Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. Based in West Lancashire to provide a high quality service to children with speech, language and communication difficulties across the locality.
Responsibilities
- Manage an identified specialist caseload of children with speech, language and communication needs, including assessment, diagnosis, intervention, training for parents / carers and professionals, contribution to multidisciplinary team working, provision of EHCPs and developing individualised management and treatment plans using clinical reasoning and evidence-based skills.
- Provide clinical supervision for junior speech and language therapists and / or assistants.
- Participate in the clinical education of speech and language therapy students.
- Work within clinics, mainstream and special schools and community settings with children with complex needs.
- Work as part of a children\'s integrated therapy team delivering assessment and intervention for referred children.
- Co-ordinate, develop and deliver training programmes for colleagues in health, education, social care and the voluntary sector, and for parents / carers.
- Support service development projects and engage with Clinical leads in professional development.
- Provide specialist advice to team colleagues on service delivery issues.
- Provide clinical and management supervision to junior colleagues.
Qualifications and experience
Professional Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language TherapyCurrent HCPC registrationEvidence of continued professional developmentExperience with children with complex needs in community / non-clinical settings; safeguarding experience; ability to work with diverse needsKnowledge of clinical governance, assessment tools, evidence-based practice, NHS policySkills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)Ability to work independently as lead specialist and manage challenging behavioursStrong leadership and problem-solving / decision-making in clinical practiceAbout Us
