Please note these positions are advertised as an opportunity for either a Medical Grade (1 PA) or an Agenda for Change Grade ( WTE Band 8b) to encompass the prospect of applications from differing professional backgrounds and has therefore been advertised in both Medical and AfC TRAC systems

Over the past three years, strong clinical leadership has ensured the clinical pathways within the Forensic programme have successfully been embedded with many positive outcomes for patients and partnership working.

We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and passionate person with experience of working in women's forensic services to work alongside the Women's Forensic Pathway joint Clinical Leads. The post holder will work with pathway colleagues, clinicians and service leads to develop and maintain high quality and accessible services for female service users. The post holder will be an excellent communicator and able to build effective internal and external networks to help deliver our collective ambitions and aims for Forensic services across South London. This role will suit an individual who has the drive and enthusiasm to support change and developing new frameworks for partnership working in a complex, dynamic environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will report to the Women's Pathway joint Clinical Leads and SLP Secure PC Clinical Director, as well as working with other pathway leads on overlapping objectives and to ensure that work across the programme is aligned. The role offers an interesting opportunity to develop approaches and skills of working in both a provider and commissioner role. This is an exciting time for the Women's' Pathway, with a renewed focus on service developments that strengthen the existing provision. We are keen to have representationfromdifferent Trusts and a wide range of professional disciplines in the leadership team and to support any professional developmental needs that you may have.

The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) :

The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP) is a collaboration between Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, (Oxleas) South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, (SLaM), and South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) between them delivering mental health services to a population of more than three million people. The partnership brings together clinical expertise, experience, and innovation, aiming to improve quality, use resources most effectively, and deliver best practice consistently to all patients. Since its inception, the SLP has been a resilient and effective partnership that has improved patient experience, introduced innovation, and developed new services across the 12 boroughs of south London.

Women's Pathway

The Women's Pathway encompasses patients suffering from a range of mental disorders and comorbidities including mental illness, personality Disorder, substance misuse. Some patients also have varying degree of learning disability and or autistic spectrum disorder. In line with other SLP Secure PC pathways, the Women's Pathway focusses on a shared philosophy and equity of offer. The pathway aims to facilitate meeting the treatment and placement needs of patients through collaborative working, shared learning and joined up improvements and innovations.

Key Responsibilities :

Key aspects of the roles which will include but are not limited to : -

To support the Womens Pathway Clinical Leads provide clinical leadership for the Women across the SLP womens services.

Responsibilities :

Attends twice monthly Womens Pathway / workstream clinical meetings to discuss new referrals to the Womens Pathway (from within the SLP, out of area, WEMS, high security and prison service) and update on current referrals

To deputise for the Clinical leads as deemed appropriate for the following (but not exclusively) activities

  • Liaise with the SLP project manager and Trust referrals co-ordinators
  • Ensure that referrals are allocated and responded to within the agreed timescales
  • Have an oversight of the Womens pathway database#
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the SLP Womens Pathway cohorts to assist with service development planning

Liaise with Patient Transition Team Case Managers

Work with the SLP data lead to conduct analyses that help monitor and develop the service

Attend relevant SLP-wide service development meetings and wider system meetings, as deemed appropriate

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council with a licence to practice
  • Evidence of specialist training or Proven ability in teaching and formal training in professional / clinical supervision or Professional management qualification or equivalent level of substantial experience / training in leading services and successfully managing or contributing to major change programmes; or Leadership training and experience of leading services and complex development programmes
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Senior Clinical or Operational experience working in forensic Services
  • Experience working with or coordinating support for Forensic patients in crisis
  • Leading or supporting service development initiatives
  • Desirable

  • Service design and implementation
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Understanding of working with a range of stakeholders in coordinating support for forensic patients in crisis
  • Understanding of clinical pathways in forensic services within South London
  • Understanding of delivering clinical outcomes
  • Understanding of key performance indicators and their relationship to service delivery and quality
  • Understanding of the role service users and their families / carers in development and running of services.
