Job description

Job Title : SEN Teaching Assistant

Location :  Croydon Area

Working Hours :  Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8 : 30 AM to 4 : 00 PM

About Us :  We are working with an inclusive school located in the Merton area, committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for all our students. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team.

Job Description :  As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with autism and physical disabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include :

  • Assisting in the educational and social development of students.
  • Providing one-on-one support to children with special educational needs.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to create a positive learning environment.
  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting teaching materials to meet the needs of each student.
  • Supporting students in developing social skills and managing their behavior.
  • Helping with personal care tasks as needed.
  • Utilizing our school's hydropool to support the physical and sensory needs of disabled children.

Key Attributes :

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with autism and physical disabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills.

    • Experience :

  • Previous experience working with children with autism and ADHD is essential. This can include personal experience.
  • Experience in a school or nursery setting is preferred.

    • Qualifications :

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Nursery Nurse qualification is also preferred.

    • Additional Information :

  • You will be part of a team supporting reduced classes, with 6-8 children per class.
  • We offer extensive in-house training and free online training through our learning platform.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
