Overview
We are looking to recruit an experienced Health Care Assistant to work Part Time (22.5 hours per week) at our Wexham Park Hospital site in the Eden Day Unit. This is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required. You must currently be in the UK with experience of working in a UK healthcare setting as an HCA.
Responsibilities
- Work under direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse / Nursing Associate.
- Provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients; recognise your abilities and limitations and only carry out tasks for which you are trained.
- Support other ward staff, act in the best interest of patients, and treat everyone with respect.
- Uphold the values of the Trust and the Skills for Health Code of Conduct.
- Assist with non-clinical duties and provide support to care assistants and new starters as required.
- Participate in direct patient care and general duties within the clinical area of employment.
Non-clinical duties
Provide excellent customer care and ensure patients come first.Mentor and support newHealth Care Support Workers on the care certificate and act as a buddy to new starters.Avoid situations that may be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of individuals.Person specification
Qualifications
Evidence of general education (e.g., GCSEs or equivalent) with Level 2 numeracy and literacy.Relevant Level 3 qualification / apprenticeship in health care or equivalent in the area of specialty (e.g., Medical / Surgery or Operating Dept. Practice for posts in Theatre).Care Certificate.Desirable criteria
Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent.Experience
Previous experience as a healthcare assistant in a hospital or registered care setting.Experience of taking clinical observations.Customer care experience.Desirable experience
Previous experience working within a specialty area.Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of care procedures relevant to the area.Moderate IT skills.Ability to undertake venepuncture and / or cannulation (or willingness to complete competency once in post).Values & Behaviours
