Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered, Specialist Biomedical Scientist with experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory to join the Microbiology department based in Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.
Responsibilities
- Active participation in CPD and opportunities for further study are supported and encouraged.
- You will be employed to work shifts over 7 days which include public holidays, on‑call, evening and weekend shifts as required by the needs of the service.
- You may be required to rotate into other laboratory disciplines at the needs of the service.
- Consideration will be given to applicants who are HCPC registered or working towards HCPC registration; if successful at interview they will be required to complete relevant IBMS portfolios and the schedule of in‑house training provided, within the agreed time scale, prior to progression.
- The laboratory provides Microbiology support to the acute hospital and also to general practices and community hospitals in the surrounding area.
- The laboratory handles around 300,000 investigations per year, covering a wide range of analyses with Virtuo Blood Culture system, Vitek 2 –XL, Vitek –MS Maldi‑TOF technology, IQ Sprint urinalysis and Vidas immunoassay, with Abbott Serology and Molecular solutions also on site.
- The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
Qualifications & Requirements
- HCPC registration or working towards HCPC registration.
- Experience working in a Microbiology Laboratory.
- Ability to participate in CPD and pursue further study.
- Willingness and ability to work across various laboratory disciplines and provide shift coverage.
- Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
