Fantastic opportunity for a skilled Mould Tool Designer to join a forward‑thinking business at a time of continued business growthThis position will suit an experienced Design Engineer with demonstrable knowledge of injection mould tooling designThe successful Mould Tool Designer will take ownership of tooling projects for the full lifecycle of the mouldRole
Responsible for mould designs for prototype and production tooling projectsProvide sound technical advice on mould design best practice based on experience and researchConduct effective mould design handovers to stakeholders and support queries throughout the project lifecycleEnsure reliable service delivery, meeting promised lead times and working collaboratively with all stakeholdersCommunicate mould design status regularly and elevate any deviations to timelines, design cost or specifications immediatelyDeliver prototype or production mould design projects on time and within budget according to KPI measuresLog and track all hours worked, submit weekly for monthly financial reporting and tool cost analysisCoordinate with suppliers to specify, source and verify bolster, manifold and ancillary components to correct specificationsSend BOMs for all tooling projects to suppliers and receive quotes for required itemsMaintain accurate mould design CAD and engineering documentation within required data management systemsApply mould design engineering principles to optimise projects for manufacture, reliability and ease of maintenanceCollaborate with stakeholders to improve tooling-related issues for the company and global partnersUtilise CAD software to model designs to highest technical standards, preparing 2D layouts in AutoCAD and 3D designs / 2D detail drawings in CreoWork to tight limits and fits, ensuring agreed tooling tolerance control on all componentsCreate accurate BOMs and steel sizes released for manufacture in agreed formats for ease of purchasingProactively identify continuous improvement opportunities within tooling and support implementation of agreed changesSupport all stakeholders as directed by the tooling manager to ensure projects are completed, communicated and managed effectivelyEngage with the UK tooling team to adopt new technologies, challenge part geometry and innovate material optimisation and usageExperience Requirements
Industry‑recognised tooling design or engineering qualificationsMinimum 3 years’ experience in mould tool designStrong knowledge of plastic injection mould tooling or similarProficiency with 3D CAD software; CREO experience is an advantagePositive attitude with flexibility and continuous improvement mindsetAbility to organise own work scheduleStrong communication skills and confidence to communicate with stakeholdersProject management experienceEagerness to learn new skills and investigate new technologiesExcellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and ProjectFor all UK job positions, work seekers must be eligible to work and live in the UK.
