Production Technician

About the Role :

Shift : B Shift, Thursday-Saturday, alternating Wednesdays – 06 : 00-Finish

Salary : £30,686 per annum

We are looking for a skilled and proactive Production Technician to ensure the smooth operation of our packaging machinery. This role is critical in maintaining and optimizing our Bagging Machines, Multihead Weighers, Printers, Checkweighers, and Robots , ensuring they perform at their best to support production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct routine checks and housekeeping on all packaging equipment to maintain optimal performance in line with OEM operation manuals.
  • Review pre-start checks completed by Machine Operators, implement necessary corrective actions, and document the process accordingly.
  • Attend hourly SIC meetings to monitor machine performance and take action to resolve any underperformance.
  • Train Machine Operators beyond initial training to improve their competency levels.
  • Assist with machine changeovers that require tool changes.
  • Create, maintain, and manage printer programs and databases , ensuring compliance with required specifications.
  • Identify and escalate maintenance issues that impact machine efficiency, raising work requests where necessary.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Carry out minor maintenance tasks as agreed with the Senior Management Team.
  • Provide feedback to Production Management regarding Machine Operator performance and skill development .

What We’re Looking For :

  • Experience working with VFFS packaging machinery and similar automated systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve machinery issues.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to train and develop Machine Operators.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow operational procedures.
  • A proactive mindset with excellent communication skills.
