Overview

Caretaker - General Maintenance – Student Accommodation. We are hiring a part-time permanent Caretaker who will join our Roost team in Sheffield. The successful candidate will work 3 days per week between Friday, Saturday and Sunday (10 : 00–16 : 00).

Salary : £11,793.60 per annum. Hours : 18 hours per week, 3 days per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10 : 00–16 : 00).

Responsibilities

  • Be the engine room of the property, responding to urgent maintenance issues with confidence and reporting issues swiftly if they cannot be fixed.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks from small repairs to assisting third-party contractors during site visits and projects.
  • Lead on compliance checks with a keen eye for detail and maintain precise reporting of issues and non-compliance.
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance and act as the site go-to for PPM queries.
  • Manage the property’s bin store area and ensure contaminated waste is correctly disposed of.
  • Escort, monitor, and assist contracted staff and engineers attending site; liaise with site managers on maintenance and project needs.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Experience in general maintenance or facilities support is desirable.
  • Safe-use of equipment and ability to perform basic repairs, identify issues, and report appropriately.
  • Willingness to collaborate with the team and adapt to a resident-focused environment.
  • Ability to work evenings / weekends as specified and maintain high standards of safety and customer service.
