Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time permanent Social Worker to join the Changing Futures Sussex Programme within East Sussex County Council - Adult Social Care - Mental Health Service.

This role offers experience working in a busy team within a multi-agency context. The successful candidate will be a registered social worker with experience working directly with vulnerable adults and their families, completing assessments, using legal frameworks, and creating care plans. A good knowledge of psychological development, systemic approaches, and interventions is required.

Responsibilities

  • Working in a mental health setting with clients experiencing multiple complex needs.

Qualifications

  • Post graduate professional qualification relevant to the professional service specialism (such as CQSW / CSS / DipSW or BA / MA in Social Work or equivalent and PQSW)
  • Knowledge and application of health and social care legislation; safeguarding procedures. MCA and Care Act 2014 are essential.
  • Registration with Social Work England and responsibility for maintaining registration; significant post-qualification experience in dealing with diverse issues.
  • Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working within a multi-disciplinary team, MDT, or evidence of working in partnership with other agencies to achieve better outcomes for clients.

    Changing Futures is a Pan Sussex system change Programme focusing on improving the system for people experiencing multiple disadvantages. It is one of 15 national Programmes bringing together public and community sector partners to redesign how local systems and services are delivered, designed, and commissioned to better meet the needs for adults experiencing multiple compound needs (MCN).

    Multiple compound needs are defined by the national Changing Futures Programme as people who experience three or more of : homelessness, current or historical offending, substance misuse, domestic violence and mental ill health. The Changing Futures Programme Sussex aims to create an environment where individuals experiencing multiple compound needs, who repeatedly fall through the net of service provision, receive flexible, trauma informed, person-centred support. The Programme aims to enable positive changes in services; to make them better connected and easier to access. Changing Futures Sussex works in partnership and is embedded across the three Local Authority areas : East Sussex, West Sussex, and Brighton & Hove.

    The Social Worker will be part of a multi-disciplinary team who will adopt a curious, creative and collaborative approach to service provision. We are looking for innovative thinkers and those that truly believe and practice a trauma-informed approach. The team will be part of the wider Changing Futures Sussex Systems change priorities to identify blocks and barriers in the system, recognising best practice and flexible working to overcome the challenges facing people with multiple complex needs. The role covers service delivery across East Sussex. Hybrid working arrangements are applicable to the role, including elements of office-based working, client visits and working from home. The office base for this role is St. Marys House, Eastbourne. You will need to demonstrate you can meet the travel requirements of the role in your application.
