Job description

Overview

Gas Turbine Design Engineer (NPI) – Contract role (Outside IR35) – Derbyshire. Work through own LTD company. Competitive rate around £50 per hour (LTD).

Responsibilities

Conduct analyses and contribute to New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes as an experienced problem solver.

Design and development of :

Compressor / Fan structural and rotating parts

Rotating shaft, shaft cone, bearing support and bearing design

Development rig design, analysis and integration

Material selection

3D part modelling and drafting

Interface control definition

Stack-up / layout creation

In-depth knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing methods; part tolerancing with design for manufacturing applications.

Perform design calculations related to stress / strength and stack-up; prepare and review certification reports.

Collaborate closely with Team Leaders of other departments and Project Management.

Additional knowledge desirable : gas turbine static strength and lifting analysis; certification reports, design record books and definition solutions accounting for layouts, clash checks, materials, weights and tolerances.

Qualifications

Mechanical degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline (mechanical, aerospace / aeronautical).

Software & Tools

PC-based Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

UG NX, PLM Teamcenter.

HyperMesh

ANSYS Workbench / ANSYS Classic or similar tool
