Overview

The First Line Risk and Resilience team will perform an important role in the “first line of defence”, acting as risk champions and operating in conjunction with the UK Risk function and wider Enterprise Risk Management function. This role will report to the SIEL COO. The team supports the monitoring, analysis and escalation of risks and risk events and will also implement additional service and management controls across the UK Private Banking unit.

This role is to both manage the team and actively support the preparation and monitoring of Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), key control testing and action remediation, monitoring of managerial control functions, the identification of operational risk trends, root cause analysis of operational risk events and other risk projects. This role is responsible for the implementation of a SEI Investments (Europe) Ltd ("SIEL") resilience framework, including presentation of the self-assessment to the Board and enhancement of existing operational resilience arrangements.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate across SIEL business units, SEI Group and other SEI entities and plays an important part in reducing the impact to our customers, company and market infrastructure should an operational disruption event occur.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Operations risk and resilience ensuring the team stays up to date with the changing landscape and supports (and challenges) the wider business in a constructive manner.
  • Lead the effort preparing and supporting the preparation, monitoring and reporting on the RCSA for teams in the UK Private Banking unit (including Operations, SWP and Technology) feeding the SIEL firm wide RCSA.
  • Actively support the development, monitoring and maintenance of risk registers.
  • Develop and analyse key risk indicators.
  • Perform key control testing and assessment.
  • Monitor and report risk events that impact Operations.
  • Work closely with the business to identify risks.
  • Undertake and report on operational risk trend analysis.
  • Plan, report and track remediation plans / actions related to gaps in RCSA.
  • Challenge the framework to ensure it meets the changing and growing demands of the business to remain fit for purpose.
  • Manage and support the preparation of root cause analysis of operational risk events within risk event reporting.
  • Continuously monitor processes to ensure controls are in place and maintained at agreed levels with Management and Clients where appropriate.
  • Promote a strong risk culture within the firm, including educating and training staff on potential risk and mitigation techniques.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team and other first line control functions within SIEL to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management, compliance and service delivery.
  • Lead the development and implementation of SIEL’s Operational Resilience framework in line with Bank of England, FCA and PRA requirements. Responsibilities include : interpretation of regulatory expectations, mapping of important services and products, validating tolerances and testing, maintaining communications plans, conducting resilience training, and ongoing improvement of the framework.
  • Identify and report resilience risks and vulnerabilities, and work with wider stakeholders to develop necessary plans (across Business and IT Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Technology, Cyber Security, Third Party Risk Management and Change Management).
  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery arrangements including annual schedules, testing, and updates to business impact assessments and continuity plans.
  • Contribute to and lead management information reporting regarding operational risk events, resilience and processing.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as required.

All SIEL employees are responsible for the identification, assessment and control of risks and risk events, maintaining understanding of applicable policies, risk appetites and tolerances, and escalating and recording incidents in a timely manner.

What we need from you

  • BA / BS degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Industry-related experience.
  • Strong technical and operational understanding of SWP, CSM, Rally and Confluence as well as services offered in the UK.
  • Experience of working at a senior level within financial services organisations, leading and influencing senior management meetings and committees.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple agendas and achieve results.
  • Business writing skills.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with staff and external parties including the regulator. Report writing and presentation skills.
