Job description

Overview

Housing Development & Place : You will lead on delivery of the Council's housing development programmes, adding value to our communities through links to wider, place-based initiatives and community engagement.

Team collaboration

You will proactively work with colleagues across the council's Housing Development and Regeneration Team, Housing, Finance, Enabling and others - developing new homes in accordance with the Council's consistent high standards, making brilliant places to live.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on delivery of the Council\'s housing development programmes, adding value to communities through links to wider, place-based initiatives and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Housing Development and Regeneration Team, Housing, Finance, Enabling and others to develop new homes in line with high standards and to create brilliant places to live.
  • Manage the programme : report on timescales, outcomes, budgets and risks; ensure information is collated for easy review using programme management tools such as SDS ProVal, Sequel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Engage in professional development within a culture of ongoing learning.

Qualifications

  • Track record of delivery : demonstrable experience leading complex development projects across various procurement and delivery models.
  • Programme management & organisational skills : ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail : high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Adaptability : ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Communication : strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with officers and stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management : experience in managing relationships with various stakeholders, including community leaders and external partners.

    Wandsworth council is pioneering a place-based approach to renewal that recognises the unique character of its diverse neighbourhoods while delivering coordinated change at scale. You will be responsible for a key workstream in this approach - overseeing the housing development process from the earliest feasibility stages to post-completion and aftercare. You will bring your broad experience to support an experienced team that is well on track to deliver an initial target of 1,000 new homes for Council Rent, whilst exploring future opportunities to expand delivery under a cross-subsidy model.
