Birmingham Airport is the UK’s seventh largest with 30 airlines serving over 120 destinations direct and onwards to over 400. Main Purpose & Scope of Role :
Reporting to Civils and Estates Manager to ensure the provision of a safe, cost effective and efficient Civil and Estates Infrastructure across the airport site.
Area of interface will be with :
- Birmingham Airport
- BAATL, BASL Airlines, Handling Agents, Tenants and Concessionaires operating in both airside and landside locations.
- Contractor organisations
- Regulatory bodies
- External organisations in establishing examples of best practice.
The role will primarily include the facilitating of maintenance of Civils and Estates Infrastructure including but not limited to :
Runway and Manoeuvring Area PavementsLandside and Airside Roads, Pavements and Street FurnitureLandside Grounds MaintenanceLandside and Airside WalkwaysPedestrian CrossingsCar ParksFencingMain Duties and Responsibilities
To support the management of staff and contractors, who are responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of Civils and Estates assets and services across the airport site.
Primary Coordination Contact for the resolution of relevant infrastructure issues during working hours.
Undertake, all duties associated with supporting contractor management including.
Engineering briefings / toolbox talksInspections / auditsDocumentation managementThe day-to-day operation of re-active and planned maintenance tasks.Quality checking and approval of delivered work.Support in the management of the maintenance, alteration, adaptation or installation work to relevant Airport Infrastructure, using Asset Management and Project Processes.Support the management of the Contract’s and Administration of relevant Infrastructure Contracts.Use Engineering Drawings and Documents in Maintenance Activities.Support the preparation of and management of the relevant infrastructure annual operating budgets.Support the Client role in the Capital Development of relevant assets / infrastructure.Provide operational support, technical information, advice and recommendations on infrastructure to the Civils and Estates Manager and other clients as required.Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, testing and repairs on relevant Infrastructure across the site.Support the management of Maintenance Activities of Planned shutdowns including Runway Closures.Support the monitoring the performance of engineering contractors.Manage and supervise appropriate resources for both planned maintenance activities and reactive maintenance activities, including out of hours were required.Complete appropriate documentation as required, i.e., inspection reports / logbooks, stores requisitions, cost coding, vehicle daily inspection reports, job reports.Use new technology and systems and carry out administrative duties including the procurement of goods to enable the continued smooth running of the section.Actively promote the use and the integration of the CMMS / Asset management systemGeneral Responsibilities
Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the airport’s facilities.
Deputise for the Civil and Estates Manager when required.promote an open culture to ensure opportunities to improve the efficient operation of the business are maximised.Provision of good customer relations and third-party training as directed.Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure the efficient and effective operation and development of the airport’s Civils and Estates facilities.Qualifications, Capabilities & Experience
Qualifications :
Minimum of a HND in Civil Engineering
Ideally at least 2 plus years’ experience within large, complex facilities environment.
Experience of working within the Airport or Highways Sector is desirable.
Flexibility :
To carry out such other duties commensurate with the grading of the post which may be determined from time to time.
