Job Summary

The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring that all plastic injection moulded components meet quality and customer specifications. This includes inspecting parts during production, identifying defects, supporting root cause analysis, and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives in line with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or IATF 16949.

Job Set-up

8am - 4 : 30pm Monday to Friday.

Onsite working with potential trips to customers

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspections of moulded parts to ensure compliance with specifications and visual standards.
  • Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMMs to verify part dimensions.
  • Conduct visual inspections for cosmetic defects like flash, sink marks, short shots, flow lines, and discoloration.
  • Monitor and record process parameters; escalate deviations from standard process settings.
  • Support mould changeovers and ensure quality checks are in place for new setups.
  • Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation (inspection reports, non-conformance reports, etc.).
  • Work closely with production, toolroom, and engineering teams to troubleshoot part quality issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective / preventive action processes (CAPA).
  • Assist in customer complaint investigations and internal audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and relevant standards (e.g., ISO, IATF).
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • 1–3 years of experience in a quality role within plastic injection moulding or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of injection moulding processes and common plastic defects.
  • Proficient in using measurement and inspection tools.
  • Basic understanding of quality systems, SPC, and problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or similar quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working Conditions

    Factory floor environment with exposure to machinery and plastic materials. May involve shift work, including nights and weekends.
