Mental Health Support Worker - Care Home
Responsibilities
- To carry out assigned tasks as part of the Care team, in support of senior staff. To undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision, including coordinating recreational groups and activities for residents and escorting duties. To ensure the safety and well-being of service users, and to always work in a manner that promotes dignity and human rights through the adoption of person centered care principles.
- Clinical Responsibilities : to assist with the care, treatment and rehabilitation of residents within the service as directed; to assist in the maintenance of a safe therapeutic environment; to contribute to the team approach to residents, providing feedback to senior staff; to participate in care plans and act as a key worker; to assist in the supervision of other health care and support staff as directed; to participate in preparation of assessments for current / future residents.
- Educational Responsibilities : to keep up to date with changing practices and attend relevant training; to promote positive attitudes towards mental health; attend regular statutory training and updates; participate in appraisal and supervision; contribute to the learning environment for staff and new team members; maintain Health and Safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974); work to Nouvita policies and procedures.
- Workforce Responsibilities : to make best use of workforce resources; follow Nouvita policies relating to security; contribute to safe and therapeutic service provision; supervise the work of other Care Pathway Facilitators where appropriate; contribute to staff development; manage time effectively; communicate with Multidisciplinary Team, visitors, managers, carers, residents and families, CPA Co-Coordinator and voluntary organisations.
- Administrative Responsibilities : to maintain standards of record keeping and administration; upkeep contemporaneous, chronological and accurate mental health records; contribute to achievement of Quality Assurance Standards.
- Audit Responsibilities : to participate in clinical audit with the support of Senior Staff.

Much of the work is of a confidential nature. No discussion should take place about the care, needs, or activities of any resident, except in the clear interest of the service user or other staff. Personal information concerning colleagues is also confidential.
