Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse, wishing to expand their knowledge and expertise within the Tissue Viability. This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse looking for a new challenge to join our dynamic and innovative Tissue Viability and Wound Hub team. We are looking for a registered nurse with a passion for tissue viability and improving clinical outcomes for patients. You should have some experience of working in wound care either within a hospital or community setting. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.

You will be supported by the Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialists and wider adult community nursing service to develop your knowledge and skills to implement evidence based practice high quality care to the residents of City and Hackney.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice within a multidisciplinary team and provide care to patients within the Tissue Viability Wound Hub.

Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care needs under the supervision of Clinical Nurse Specialists.

They will be responsible for delivering a high standard of holistic nursing care whilst promoting and maintaining health education and independence.

The post holder will take responsibility for their own actions when delivering clinical care; maintaining competency and skill in line with role requirements.

Essential / Desirable

Essential criteria

  • Registered General Nurse NMC Registered
  • Evidence of ongoing post registration training.
  • Ability to assess and treat variety of wounds (surgical, traumatic, pressure ulcer, leg ulcer, moisture lesions)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a wide range of settings.
  • Good organisation and planning skills
  • Ability to teach clients, relatives and carers management of health conditions
  • Understanding the needs of ethnic minorities and inequalities within health and care settings
  • Understanding of professional accountability and delegation issues
  • Experience of identifying and reporting safe guarding concerns
  • Experience of successfully managing violence and aggression

Desirable criteria

  • Staff Nurse Development Programme / Preceptorship
  • Experience of working in an inner-city environment
  • Experience of contributing to service developments
  • Understanding Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its implications for community nursing
