Business Development Director – eCommerce & Retail

📍 Location : Tyneside

💷 Salary : £40,000 – £45,000 basic (OTE £120,000+ uncapped)

📑 Contract : Full-time, Permanent

About Us

We’re an award-winning eCommerce software company helping retailers and brands scale online. We’re growing fast and now need a Business Development Director to take charge of driving enterprise-level partnerships and new business growth.

The Role

This is a senior position where you’ll lead from the front — building relationships with major retail clients, opening new opportunities, and shaping our sales strategy.

You’ll manage a small team of Business Development Managers, working closely with our Commercial Director to hit ambitious growth targets.

You’ll be out in the field across the UK for client meetings and industry events, but when not travelling, we’d prefer you to be within commuting distance of Newcastle.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and execute business development strategies targeting enterprise-level retailers.
  • Lead client acquisition from outreach through to deal close.
  • Attend events, network, and represent our brand at industry level.
  • Deliver tailored solutions that showcase the value of our platform (Google Shopping expertise a bonus).
  • Mentor and develop a team of BDMs, running reviews and providing coaching.
  • Keep accurate forecasts and pipeline reports for leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong track record in enterprise-level business development or sales.
  • Retail or eCommerce background is a must.
  • Experience managing sales teams.
  • Solid client network with existing retailer relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • What We Offer

    💷 £40k–£45k basic + OTE £120k+ uncapped
