The Job you will do :
Be a role model for Health and Safety; promote and drive a culture of the highest health and safety expectations, with active prevention of H&S issues.
Manage the HSE team, leading on the education of the operations team on best H &S practices for the business .
Provide monthly Health, Safety & Environment Performance reports to Site Director and Group HSE.
Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs of the manufacturing operation.
Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate and facilitate health and safety training programs for all employees, ensuring that they are well-informed about safety protocols and procedures.
Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations and standards and ensure that all legal requirements are met.
Lead incident investigations and work closely with the operations team to develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
Utilize data and analytics to track health and safety performance metrics, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve safety outcomes.
Stay updated with the latest industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes related to health and safety, and implement necessary adjustments to policies and procedures.
Encourage employee involvement and feedback in health and safety initiatives to promote a sense of ownership and accountability.
Ensure that emergency response plans are in place, regularly reviewed, and effectively communicated to all employees.
Implement and oversee programs aimed at improving employee well-being, such as ergonomic assessments and mental health support initiatives.
Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that all equipment and machinery are regularly inspected and maintained to prevent accidents and ensure safe operation.
Lead the development of a robust safety culture that emphasizes proactive risk management and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and support to line managers in handling health and safety issues and developing solutions to enhance workplace safety.
Ensure effective communication channels are in place to disseminate health and safety information throughout the organization.
About you :
You must hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification
It is also essential that you hold level 5 qualification, such as a HND or Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification
You will also be required to hold a membership with relevant professional bodies- IOSH etc.
Demonstrable experience of working in a manufacturing environment with multiple stakeholders
Experience of actively identifying and implementing continuous improvement benefits to the business
Active contribution to day to day & longer-term problem solving in health and safety
Active working knowledge of HSE, NEBOSH and other health and safety standards
Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements
Reporting methodology / relevant KPIs to drive understanding & change in health and safety
Risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability practices
