The Optical Assistant will be responsible for :

• Assisting members to choose an appropriate product to suit the lens prescription
• Measure members for pupillary distance using a pupilometer and to observe the line of sight to determine bifocal placement
• Checking contact lenses and completed eyeglasses against prescription prior to dispensing to members, fitting and adjusting as appropriate
• Ensuring stock and equipment levels are maintained and ensure correct ordering to accommodate
• Ensuring the Optical department is kept clean and tidy at all times ensuring the appropriate cleaning tasks are completed according to policy and procedure
• Oversee Apprentices as required
