Policy and Public Affairs Manager

London

Hybrid working meaning two days in the office and three from home

Permanent

Full Time 35 hours

Salary circa £45,000pa

Overall purpose of this role of Policy and Public Affairs Manager.

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager plays a key role within the Public Affairs team, part of ICAEWs Policy and Communications Department.

The role focuses on building and protecting ICAEWs reputation with government and parliament, shaping policy positions and communications to enhance the organisations influence and credibility. Acting in the public interest, you will identify strategic opportunities and risks, providing advice aligned with ICAEWs operational priorities.

Policy and Public Affairs Manager Responsibilities include :

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and promote ICAEWs policy positions on key issues including sustainability, tax, governance, regulation, and economic crime.
  • Monitor political developments and identify opportunities to influence legislation, consultations, and debates.
  • Build and manage relationships with government departments, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide political insight, briefings, and risk analysis to internal teams and senior leaders.
  • Coordinate messaging and campaigns internally with ICAEW colleagues to enhance influence.
  • Lead political communications and oversee events that raise ICAEWs profile with key audiences.

Policy and Public Affairs Manager Experience Requirements

  • Significant experience in public affairs, parliamentary engagement, or policy development.
  • Strong knowledge of UK politics, policymaking processes, and parliamentary procedures.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain senior-level stakeholder relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting briefings and policy outputs.
  • Strong political judgement and ability to navigate complex or sensitive issues.
  • Experience advising senior leaders and providing strategic political insight.
