Head of Business Development and Client Development
Carter Murray is exclusively working with a growing Intellectual Property firm in London to recruit their first dedicated business Development professional. Coming into a blank piece of paper, this role will involve creating and implementing a business development and client relationship strategy from scratch.
- Develop and implement a global key account programme alongside a wider client account strategy.
- Lead initiatives to increase client satisfaction, retention, and growth.
- Establish best practices in client listening, account planning, and relationship selling.
- Support senior leadership in building deep, strategic client relationships.
Sales Capability Development
- Design and deliver capability programmes to strengthen client growth competencies.
- Set the ambition for client management and implement mentoring, coaching, and training programmes.
Business Development
- Create a playbook for repeatable success in pursuits, proposals, and bids.
- Collaborate with marketing to build a library of high-impact sales materials.
- Lead major proposals and coach teams to improve win rates.
Performance & Analytics
- Establish KPIs and accountability for client growth and BD performance.
- Introduce data-driven insights to support decision-making and track outcomes.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation, and ROI for sales excellence initiatives.
- Proven experience in key account management, sales excellence, or business development leadership.
- Strong background in building client programmes and embedding best practices.
- Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and capability development.
- Commercially minded with expertise in performance analytics and ROI tracking.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
