SEMH Teaching Assistant – Whitchurch, Bristol

Location : Whitchurch, Bristol Contract : Full-time, Long-term Start date : Immediate Pay : £89–£100 per day (PAYE, no umbrella)

Do you have a calm head, a kind heart, and a knack for helping young people find their way? We’re looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a brilliant Primary school in Whitchurch, supporting pupils who need a little extra help to feel confident and thrive in the classroom.

You’ll be part of a small, supportive team who genuinely care about every child’s progress and wellbeing. Every day is different, some days are all about quiet encouragement, others might mean helping a pupil regulate and re‑engage after a tough morning. Either way, you’ll make a real difference.

What you’ll be doing :

• Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in small groups and 1 : 1 settings
• Helping create safe, positive learning spaces where students can build trust and independence
• Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to tailor learning to each child
• Using patience, creativity, and empathy to help pupils manage behaviour and emotions

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
