Become a Community Teaching Assistant – Support Beyond the Classroom
Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential? We’re looking for a resilient, adaptable, and proactive Community Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for pupils with complex behavioural and learning needs. This is a unique role where you will work not only in school settings but also across local learning hubs, community spaces, and occasionally in pupils’ homes to deliver personalised, focused learning and behavioural support.
Pay : £24,763 – £26,407 annually (Grade 8, points 12–15)
Contract : Full-time, fixed term for 39 weeks per year
Start Date : Immediate start available
Location : Chesterfield and surrounding areas

About the Alternative Provision Setting
You will work with young people who have faced challenges in mainstream education, often due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Pupils may struggle with impulse control, social interactions, or emotional regulation, and many benefit from a flexible, creative approach to their education.
